Midnight in Paris (2011)

This movie had me at the 3 minute intro.

I usually decide if I'm going to like a movie or not when I watch the trailers. When I watched the trailers for "Midnight for Paris," I decided that I'm going to like this movie (Well, mainly because it was set in Paris, a place I have always been wanting to visit since I was young). And I was right--from the very beginning.

What a great introduction!  I loved the combination of the scenes of Paris and the sound of soprano sax. (I've already done the research, and found out that the intro song is "Si tu vois ma mère" by Sidney Bechet. A new song to listen to on my way to work tomorrow morning!)

Traveling to the 20s in the movie reminded me of the "Paris in the 1920s" unit from my 11th grade English class. The writers, artists, and thinkers we studied and read about in that unit were all alive in the movie.  It was a very nice surprise! Cole Porter, Gertrude Stein, Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald.. I wished I was in the movie.  Though, actually, the movie was so well done that experiencing interactions with these great artists in a movie was almost enough.

"Midnight in Paris" is definitely a keeper and I would recommend it to everyone!

Cappuccino with Extra Foam

There are days when I want to scoop up foam from my cappuccino with my finger before drinking the coffee.  Especially on a rainy day, when I want to sit down, take a break, think about random things, or just watch the rain come down, cappuccino with extra foam is my best friend.

Sometimes, I'll ask for foam on other drinks--like a peppermint mocha with extra foam. It truly tastes like winter!

I'm not sure how I'll feel tomorrow morning. But just because I know it'll be raining all day, I think I'll pick up a grande cappuccino with extra foam on my way to work.

The Function of Music

Every morning, I drive 15 minutes to work.  I enjoy my short ride to work without any traffic.  And usually, it's right when the sun is rising or as soon as its risen so the sky is beautifully painted with several pastel colors.  But sometimes, I wish my commute was a little longer, just so I can listen to music a little longer and take in as much morning colors as I can.  I love listening to music (and/or singing) while driving.  It lets me enjoy the drive as is.  It helps me free my mind.  The combination of driving, music, and sunrise is just a great way to start a day!  Maybe, one of these days, I'll leave early and take a longer route to work so I can enjoy the beginning of my day with music that frees me from "the tyranny of conscious thought!"

Oh Car!

My car has reached it's 100,000 mile mark!  (I thought about naming my car a few different times, but never was able to find the perfect name for it. So, I'm just going to call it--Car.)

I was with Car since it came to my family in 2004.  Car and I have been to many many places, short and long distances.

Car and I have been to 14 states: California, Oregon, Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, Utah, Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. Car and I shared a 2,500 mile trip across the country--3 times.

Car and I have been to places that drop to -30 degrees and places that reach 117 degrees. Car and I have seen beautiful sunny days in California, a sizzling hot weather in Arizona, and snow and hail in Ohio.  We've also experienced our first hydro-planing in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado.

Car and I have seen crazy people and crazy drivers all around--many honest people and many liars.  As a result, Car has gone through several reconstructive procedures. Nothing serious, thankfully; just some plastic surgeries.  Although there were some unexpected expenses for me to invest in Car along the way, Car never died on me.  Car has always been a very reliable friend.

100,000 is a big number, but Car is so young and healthy.  Car and I have a long way to go together and I cannot wait for our adventures that await us!

Brotha from anotha motha

The show "Modern Family" started when I was in college.  Since the first episode of the first season, I cannot (and don't even want to) imagine the world without Modern Family.  It's obviously hilarious and very entertaining.  But I also think of the word "clean" and "crisp" when I watch Modern Family.  It's so refreshing and each episode makes me laugh like I've never seen or heard anything funny.

Another laugh attack from the most recent episode "Tree House" lasted a good minute.
No exaggeration, no overstating--literally one solid minute of laughing.
I just love Modern Family.
